This painting was inspired by the gentle energy of deer.

There was a day in 2024 where I found myself beginning to get swallowed up in the overwhelming feelings of despair, rage, and confusion. During my commute home from work that day, I saw 2 deer grazing next to the extremely busy road. In my years of commuting, I had never seen deer along that road and I haven’t seen any in that spot since.

I really believe those deer were there that day as a way for nature to remind me to keep a gentle heart, like a deer’s gentle energy; to treat my emotions with grace and focus on the aspects of my life that are in my control.

I still think about this moment often.
